Hello From Squamish! A Note From Christine
Hi there, I’m Christine Ziade.
If we haven’t met yet, let me introduce myself properly.
I’m a physiotherapist, a small business owner, and apparently a professional at moving… frequently.
My husband and I just made our latest move (yes, again!) and we are now living by the ocean in beautiful Squamish, BC. Trails, beaches, lakes, skiing, and the city are all close by, which is perfect for two people who love adventure, nature.
The first two pictures are from my first hike in Squamish, just 10 mins from home. The third picture was taken during my trail run behind my place! And if it looks magical, it’s because it truly is. The pictures never gives it justice! If you’re not from here, you will have to come visit ;)
Starting over in a new place has reminded me of something I’ve always known in my work: real progress, whether in life or health, doesn’t happen overnight. Quick fixes can feel tempting. They promise immediate results and a sense of control, but they rarely stick. True change comes from consistency, awareness, and understanding the bigger picture.
A Little About Me
I’ve been a registered physiotherapist since 2010 (Yikes… that makes me feel old!) and the founder of Ethos Collective Physiotherapy. I earned my Honours Specialization in Kinesiology from the University of Western Ontario (07) and my Masters in Physiotherapy from the University of Ottawa. Since graduating, I’ve spent my career focusing on one thing: helping people move, breathe, and feel better in a way that lasts.
From 2013–2018, I worked at the TMJ Physiotherapy Clinic in Ottawa. We dealt with complex TMJD issues (jaw dysfunction) on a daily basis! Let me just say this here… I saw A LOT of TMJD over the years! I was also so lucky to be mentored by Daniel Gagne PT. That experience was pivotal. TMJ dysfunction is tricky. So many practitioners struggle with it and to be honest, we don’t learn too much about it in school. But during my time there, I learned how to assess and treat the whole system, not just the jaw. It taught me that pain and dysfunction are rarely isolated, and that real results come from looking at the interconnectedness of the body.
Since then, I’ve continued learning, diving into manual therapy, functional movement analysis, visceral and neural manipulation, acupuncture, and other holistic strategies that allow me to create tailored, integrative treatment plans. My goal is always the same: to address the root cause, rather than just mask symptoms.
My Philosophy
At Ethos, my approach is simple but intentional: we treat the whole system, not just the spot that hurts. I combine manual therapy with individualized functional exercise programs, helping clients of all ages and fitness levels recover from acute injuries, manage chronic issues, or simply optimize their movement and energy.
I see so many people chasing quick fixes. Maybe it’s a gadget, a trendy stretch, or a “miracle” exercise program they saw online. And sometimes it works… for a day. Or a week. But without addressing the underlying patterns in posture, movement, and breathing, those solutions rarely last. That’s where I come in. I help clients connect the dots, develop consistency, and work toward lasting results.
Why This Matters to Me
Starting fresh in Squamish has reminded me how much courage it takes to begin again. Building a small business from scratch, navigating a new city, and learning the rhythm of a different lifestyle has made me even more empathetic toward my clients who are facing transitions, setbacks, or chronic struggles. Healing, like moving to a new place, takes patience, persistence, and guidance. I also believe in holistic health as a lifestyle, not a trend. And sometimes, when you are learning to nourish your health in a different way, it can take some time to peel the layers one by one.
I love exploring the road less traveled, discovering local foodie gems, tasting new cuisines abroad, and soaking in the restorative power of nature (especially by the ocean). These experiences inform my work and remind me that wellness isn’t just what happens in a session, it’s how we live, move, breathe, and engage with the world around us.
An Invitation
If you’re reading this, consider this my personal invitation: to get to know me, my approach, and what I stand for. Whether you’re struggling with chronic pain, recovering from injury, or simply curious about optimizing your body and energy, I want you to feel welcome here. This is a space to explore, learn, and create strategies that work for your unique body and life. And because I genuinely want to connect with this new community, I’d love to hear from you! Share a little about your journey, what you’re struggling with, or even just your favorite hiking spot in Squamish. I read every message, and hearing from you is honestly one of the best parts of what I do.
There’s something about the change of seasons that mirrors what we experience in our bodies. Energy fluctuates, movement patterns shift, and even stress levels can ebb and flow. Just like nature, healing and progress are not always linear. But they are always possible when approached with awareness, patience, and a plan that honors the whole system.
So, whether we meet in person or here online, welcome. I’m Christine, and I’m excited to share this journey with you. Let’s explore what your body is capable of together.
